So school is okay -- I mean I don't love it  -- but that comes with time right?
i will post pictures eventually of the school but heres a bit of a description

-- each class room is like a normal room -- with a white board and books but the doors are steel doors and lock from the outside, and you have to go out doors before you go to your next class. I have not got a locker yet but they are 1/4 the size of the ones at ths --- the small little square ones ... The yard where students hang out is not that good.... we complained about pot holes for a track --- they have a dirt oval that is a "track" -- im thankful for ths new track though :D and the play place -- if it was in Canada it would be torn down right away -- it is wood and when one person steps on it it shakes violently....

and the whole language barrier thing is really hard for me still - im trying me best but some teachers are pressuring me too much, and they expect me to have grasped all that they taught... and ive been doodling alot again, to get my mind off of the teachers and the classes -- i guess its working - but i need to learn the Spanish.......

and home sickness is starting to settle in.... i don't like it --- i am starting to really really miss everybody... and i keep asking my self why the heck i am doing this --- but i guess i have to realize that i chose to do this, and im on my own for a year... :/

heres my schedule ------ different every day

lucas me and julia at the rotary meeting

lucas

julia

me

lucas and julia

julas cake --- that the waiter knocked to the ground haha

the rotary meetings are different too
there is less than 15 people
and we sit in like royal chairs... in a horse shoe -- talking about things in spanish
then we eat, then we leave
and no rotary grace or anything --- it felt kind of odd --- not even ringing of the rotary bell
oh well i guess everywhere is different right?

anyways i think that is it for my blogg this time
but i am going to see if i can get a tutor in school to take me out of a few really hard classes and take me and maybe the other julia (not the one in the pic) who knows as much spanish as i do, and teach us spanish..... lets hope this works (yn)

  1. Hello Kayla. I just caught up on your whole blob. Been busy painting at Teresa's house for almost two weeks. You are doing a great job on the blog and this will make a wonderful souvenir book when you return. It will keep all your adventures and memories alive. I have never been in Ecuador, therefore loved all the pictures. Amazing scenery you have captured already. Imagine being that close to a volcano. You host family seems really nice. Love the welcome sign they made for you. A lot of adjustments in the first little while. I sensed you are a little lost. It will get better when you get used to their way of life, and make a lot of new friends. Enjoy every moment. Glad you can skype with your family, it really helps you and yours not to miss each other so much. I'm jealous of the different foods you get to try. Keep up the blogging even though it takes a lot of time. I will follow your adventures. Love and hugs. Alida

  2. Great pictures at the Rotary meeting. I know home sickness is settling in but chin up. It will pass in a few days and all will be well again. Its sad about the kids playground but remember every country is different.Your schedule seems very busy. Good luck with it. You are still young and very adaptable.... not like your mother who dosen't like changes. Chin up my dear and I promise things will get better. Love you...Mom
