august 30th

nothing really to post so far today except

my day was completely made by one package of oreos :D

August 29th :)

Starting off with... i cant eat alot.... that is so unlike me haha

maybe it is because i am not used to eating to much in the mornings? I dont know..... anyways yesterday we went to the bank, and also the phone place -- last night i took a photo out the window of the city ... didnt turn out to well but yeah...

today was more of an exciting day :)

i got a chance to meet 6 or 7 other exchange students here in quito - thanks to lucas who is just awesome :D -- i guess hes the only reason we got together today :)

we went for coffee and ended up getting smoothie coffee things :) they were awesome and not very expensive :)

the mall we met up in was way to small for us so in the next few weeks we are going to meet up again in a larger mall and do more things :) 

on the way home karlas parents and i were in one car and karla was behind, eventually she was in front of us and her parents embarrassed her by honking, and shouting out the window at her LMAO :D it was funny :) 

I found out today that one of the host families that another student is at is overly strict, and another is so lenient -- i guess you get a mix no matter where you go :)

Today i went to see my school :D -- they have uniforms - but the only uniform type thing is the shirt - you can wear jeans, and black or white flats or sneekers. we also had to get jogging pants and a jacket that match from the uniform store with the schools name on it --- all in all it was less than 70$ :) which my host father paid for :) -- i have to get a few other things for the uniform which i have to pay for, and jeans, and shorts :) -- not that much - but i recently found out that i did not pack much colour.... so most of my clothes are black..... so i need to do a bit of colour shopping :) haha 

today karlas cousin, julian ("Hu" lee anne), (age of 1 1/2) finally took to me and was poking me in the car and let me pick him up, although the latter did not last for very long... haha

its still very wxciting to be here... its almost unbelievable lol...

anyways heres a few pictures from last night and today....

and i regret to say i forgot to take pictures of us exchange students :S

but one of the guys was taller than me :D :D finally haha

and i dont remember if i spoke about this earlier... but this is the line, in the tunnels and if the water is above this line, you are not to go through the tunnels, i guess we get alot of rain here eh? haha :D :D

im going to start this one off by saying that the default font (idk what it is but this is what it looks like) really... really ANNOYS ME!!! lol

so yeah now that that is out of the way............ 

Yesterday we went to my host parents work (office) -- its quite different from here -- at the end of the day they have to pull down a steel door that covers the front of the store, because of robberies ... :/

I also got to see Karlas cousins house :) it was nice :) and we played a small game of hide and seek with Anna Ana Paulo

Anna and her brother (i cant remember his name) are the same ages as Kemalubi and Michael (my sister and brother)

we also went to find out how much my cell phone is going to cost a month, only $32 -- but only 200 msgs -- i used to do more than that in a day jaja

also yesterday my host mom showed me how to change the TV from spanish to english -- karla found out and she said, as she was laughing, NO - NO ENGLISH TV FOR YOU KAYLA!! haha :D thanks karla... :P

and on her tv she had harry potter and the half blood prince in spanish :)

August 26th --- Day 3 in ECUADOR :D

Today was an amazing day :) ... we went to see many things and only one thing went wrong :)
as im doing this --- my host parents got my TV working and it had children's shows in spanish :) 

the beginning of our day started with empanadas and eggs :)... oh and mom was right about tea helping my tummy :)

After breakfast went to see the virgin statue...

The statue is like the Jesus statue in Brazil.

Day 2 - August 25th 2012

I woke up this morning and had a breakfast of fruits, a sandwich and what they call oatmeal,
this oatmeal was like a drink and not mushy or thick at all :D 
after breakfast i started to put my things away, and along the way i gave my host mom and dad gifts and i gave karla her lip glosses and other things :)
one thing that is here that i want to read is HARRY POTTER , IN SPANISH :)

Karla took me out to go and get the dogs washed and cut, but they were all to busy and so i took a few pictures of the city while i was at it.

After this we went to the mall, and everything is so much more expensive here... we also went to a cultural shop where everything was ecuador, ecuador, and a little more ecuador. i had Empanadas :D they were amazing. the parks are gorgeous and they are full of art :)

the busses are like street cars, they run off of electricity, but they can also go on fuel. 

people are selling things all over, at the lights they sell 20 oranges for only 1$

there are many many poor people here unfortunately and many stray dogs.

everything is behind bars, and the streets are all called avenues, and one is december 6th avenue :D

also the licence plates are different too, the first letter represents the province, so an I, T, P, etc... and the rest are different, so for

 example PBD - 000

a few things i learnt today are

- people drive alot differently here, and its crazier than toronto

- you do not need a setbelt in the backseat but in the front you do

- city busses are dangerous 

- the streets at night are really dangerous
